Sliding-Scale Pricing
A pricing model that allows clients to pay at different rates depending on their own needs.
-
I use the sliding-scale payment model as a way to make my work more accessible while still providing myself with a sustainable wage. Integrating a sliding-scale payment system is a small way to acknowledge the disproportionate opportunities we may face while striving towards economic justice at a local level. Safety, health, wealth, and opportunity are not equally accessed by all people so naturally, it’s even harder for those affected by these systems to afford quality and safe tattoos.
I realize that some folks may not be able to afford the lower end of the scale so I will be offering one free tattoo per season to Black & Indigenous clients beginning Summer of 2024. Ontop of that, I welcome trading and bartering when I’m financially capable of doing so.
-
The sliding scale ranges from $175-200/hr with a minimum of $200-250 (1 hour). The sliding-scale is present on the menu in the studio. Ideally, your total will not exceed the budget outlined on your inquiry, unless discussed prior. Let me know during our initial consultation or in your inquiry form if you have any concerns with your piece fitting your budget.

“When I pay more, I know that I am helping the artist support themselves. When I pay in the middle, I know I am helping the artist cover costs. When I pay at the bottom, I know I am letting my community hold me and support me.”
Consider paying more if you:
never/rarely worry about having your needs met
own your home
have investments, savings, retirement accounts, or inherited money
travel recreationally or are traveling out of state for this tattoo
have access to money, family, and/or resources in times of need
work part time (or not at all) by choice
are white
have a high degree of earning power due to gender privilege, racial privilege, class background, etc.
Consider paying less if:
are a person who experiences racism directed at you or vis systemic oppression
identify as Black, Indigenous, First Nations, and/or a person of color
are transgender and or experience trans-related discrimination and/or violence regularly
have outstanding medical expenses or no insurance
experience discrimination and or/denied work related to ableism
are eligible for public assistance
have immigration-related expenses
are an unpaid community organizer
are a returning citizen who has been denied work due to incarceration history
are a sex worker who experienced occupational discrimination
are supporting children or dependents
are an elder with limited financial support
This list is a guide for you to use. I will never quiz you or question your agency in determining where on the scale you pay. It is completely your choice.
